FERRET experts only, please!!?

my ferret azzie is 5/6ish years old. she had adrenal tumors, and they were removed successfully this time last year. since then, she has gone completley bald below her front legs. i don’t understand! she had the tumors removed, shouldn’t her fur be growing back? also, any suggestions on how to keep her warm when out of the cage? here in NY the winters are brutal so the floors get chilly. the thing is, i would use a sweater except that the baldness is her whole back and butt area. and if i give her like a full ferret body suit, i am afraid she will mess it up in the litter box. please help!!

Possibly the tumors weren’t completely removed, or there is another section that went unnoticed but is malign.

If you can, melatonin injections are usually used to regrow hair in adrenal ferrets. At my vets, the shot costs about $60, and lasts about 4 months. This is the only thing I can think of for your ferret–since the hairloss is widespread, there isn’t much you can do directly (except trying the melatonin). Make sure she has plenty of places that have a bunch of soft, snuggly bedding.
