Hereditary Baldness In Women

Is baldness hereditary? If so, why is not observed in women?

Some women develop a pattern loss of hair due to genetics, age and male hormones (which tend to increase among women after menopause.) The model is different from men. Female pattern baldness involves a thinning scalp. The front remains almost intact.
