Hereditary Baldness In Women

Is baldness hereditary? If so, why is not observed in women?

inherited disorder of the hair shaft or genodermatosis is one of the causes of alopecia (baldness). Men and women tend to lose hair thickness and amount as they age. Baldness is not usually caused by the disease. It is related to aging, heredity, and testosterone. Baldness Inherited or "pattern" affects many more men than women. About 25% of men begin to bald are 30 years and about two-thirds are either bald or have a balding pattern by age 60. Some women develop a pattern loss of hair due to genetics, age and male hormones (which tend to increase among women after menopause.) The model is different from men. Female pattern baldness involves a thinning scalp. The front remains almost intact.
