Hair Loss Thyroidectomy
Anyone had massive hair loss after a thyroidectomy or on Levoxyl?
I have a TT on 5/11 and started Levoxyl on 5/15. Since about a week after my surgery I have noticed a LOT of hair on my brush when I brush my hair and gobs in the sink.
My Endocrinologist says it could be trauma from the surgery, but it wouldn’t start falling out that fast, would it?
I’ve read levoxyl can have a side effect of hair loss and it is “usually temporary.”
I’m looking for some people who can give me reassurance that this is not going to last forever and I won’t be bald next year. Anyone?
It IS temporary ….don’t worry !! I started taking Levoxyl over a year ago and freaked out at the hairloss in the beginning as well.
It will take a few months or more to see the difference but it will subside….you will not go bald!!
(By the way, I’m a female with mid-back length hair)
