Diagnose my friend?
my friend (shes not old mind you) has got some illness and her doctor is at a loss for what it is so I was wondering if you fine people could help us out. The symptoms are…
*hair loss- like crazy. she had the thickest hair I’d ever seen and it’s falling out in chunks and has thinned quite a lot in the past couple months.
*peeling nails
*bad circulation- her hands are like ice packs
*irregular period
that’s all that I can remember.
Her doctor thought it was a thyroid problem but the blood tests came back fine.
Any ideas?

Its a new idea, but has been gaining some attention in the medical community – its called thryoid hormone resitance….(in other words, there is plenty of hormone in the bloodstream, and the tests come out fine, but the hormone isn’t working the way it should – its not “strong enough”)
Basically it breaks down like this….if it waddles like a duck, and quacks like a duck, its most likely a duck….
If she has all the symptoms of thyroid issues, they might want to try “treating as if” for a couple of months and see what happens….
