Female Hair Loss Research

Is taking a general multi-vitamin with iron as good as taking a specific iron supplement(ferrous sulfate)?
I’m a 21 year old female and am suffering from hair loss maybe from a vitamin deficiency. My doc said all my blood tests are normal range but upon research, I found the iron ferritin level should be 70 for hair and mine was 50. When I told him this, he said if I want, take a ferrous sulfate vitamin usually 325mg but I’m taking Flinstones vitamins for the iron which give 100% of the DV at 18mg. So are iron and ferrous sulfate the same thing? Or is the iron in most supplements different than ferrous sulfate not targeted to hair?
Ferrous sulphate is probably the most common iron supplement there is and most multivitamins contain it as well.
A ferrous sulphate supplement probably contains more iron than a multivitamin so perhaps you might need a ferrous sulphate supplement in addition to the multivitamin you are taking.
Taking more than one multivitamin per day could be regarded as unwise.
All iron is basically the same regardless of whether it is ferrous sulphate, ferrous gluconate or other iron supplements. Organic iron such as ferrous gluconate is better absorbed than inorganic iron such as ferrous sulphate.
