Cat Hair Loss Sores

Chronic Scratching on mice.?
My mouse has loss of hair and some little sores and we are still working out whether it is Chronic scratching or bedding allergies. So far we are treating it as both so I have changed her food (in case she is allergic) from bird seed which has sunflower seeds and wheat in it to my own recipe of corn, carrot and celery (all of which is pretty much diced. We also Changed her bedding from newspaper to a chopped up serviette and the stuff on the bottom of the cage from saw dusty stuff to a cat litter that has newspaper in it. Is this all a good idea and does anyone know any other ways I can cure her?
You are probally correct about being allergic to something. Other than bedding, look below at other possibilities.
-Bedding – particularly shavings (try switching to a new brand to see if the scratching and sores stop)
-Cigarette smoke
-Perfumes
-Polishes
Increased scratching, wheezing, or white flakes around the ear or eyes after the introduction of something new could be a possible allergic reaction. Remove whatever new was added and look for any improvement. If no improvement has been made after a few days, it could be a type of infection.
Has anyone been sick at your house recently? Your mice could’ve caught a cold from a human. Symtons include: runny nose, high temp., sneezing, scratching and sores. Keeping the hamster warm is an essential if they do have a cold. A remedy that you could try for this is lukewarm milk and water with a teaspoon of honey.
Good Luck,
