Baldness Statistics

baldness statistics
How come short, bald, fat guys are never on the presidential ticket?

I read some interesting statistics the other day; 40% of American Men experience male pattern baldness in their lives. So I thought, how come all presidential candidates always have hair?
Also, the average male height is like 5’9″, that means about half of men are UNDER that average. So why are all presidential candidates 6 ft tall?
And how come, in the nation with the highest obesity, 90% of our candidates are slim?

Are we choosing presidents based on LOOKS?? The smartest person out there might not fit the look, and maybe that’s why we keep electing duds. If we are that superficial, maybe we are getting the presidents that we deserve. What do you think?
All the presidents mentioned were before t.v. Nobody knew what they looked like.

Americans choose people based on looks. This statement hit the nail on the head!

1. When Kerry was running, one of his ex-friends wanted to know why he was so ugly now when a few years ago he was extremely good-looking.

2. Hillary Clinton looked good in her younger days, but now Republicans try to attack her looks, her dress, her “male wardrobe / power-suit-thing” and her smile.

3. Bill Clinton won big with women because ladies loved his looks.

4. Sarah Palin got much more votes than she should have for McCain because many Republican males have librarian fantasies.

5. CNN did a study that showed that Americans have never elected a president that has been under 6 ft. tall.

6. Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan & John F. Kennedy were all viewed as handsome with good hair.

7. Joe Biden put in hairplugs to cover his receding hairline.

8. In 12 elections (since TV came in) Americans haven’t voted in a bald man. They did BEFORE TV came in and we could see the candidates who were running.

America is looking for a superhero after the disappearance of the hero and the creation of the celebrities (people like Paris Hilton who are celebrated for nothing at all) by the media. Heroes fought or worked selflessly for some goal or cause that was outside of themselves. They usually went beyond the call to help other people. Did you know that all of the superheroes…Super Man, BatMan, Cyclops & The X-Men are mainly all over 6 ft. tall? Super Man is also invulnerable, indestructible and innocent. He overpowers criminals easily and always does what is right. Basically, he’s tall, dark and handsome with a good, full head of sleek hair.

Bald men are shown as evil in the comics and in movies. Remember Lex Luthor, Super Man’s arch enemy? Dr. Evil in Austin Powers? Colin Farrell shaved his head to play Bullseye in DareDevil.

Face it, America is obsessed with looks. 45 year old women are dressing like 16 year olds in short, tight skirts, tanktops or shirts so tight you can see the rolls. Guys in their 50′s are dressing like 15 year old boys with their underwear at their waist and their pants around their knees…and one hand hitching the whole train up while running to catch a bus. Models are like sticks and when a normal model appeared on “America’s Next Top Model,” she was told that she was “bigger than the average model” and that “they would have to make special clothes to fit her.” She was so hurt that she cried and said that her reason for being on the show was to change the way models are viewed and the anorexic shapes of the models that are chosen. Her protests fell on deaf ears. A few days later the judges voted her off.

Before TV came in, according to my parents (believe me, I wasn’t around then), presidents were chosen based on what they said or had done. But once viewers could actually SEE the candidates, the media began zeroing in on their appearances. For instance, why is it that the news spends so much time talking about Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama’s wardrobes? Why do they smirk every time Hillary appears in a suit. Why did they shake their heads when Obama wore a bad outfit to throw a pitch at Yankee stadium? Why did they grumble about Michelle’s expensive sneakers? Why was McCain shown as a guy who was about to die, while Obama was portrayed as a young kid? Why was John Edward’s $400 haircut such a big topic?

Our culture is all about youth. Many of us are afraid of old age and even shun those who are older. Furthermore, people are looking for a president without weaknesses or flaws…that’s why they refuse to put a balding man in. During a debate among the Democratic contenders in 2008, one announcer looked at a balding candidate and shook his head saying that the guy should have worn a toupee or hairpiece because his balding will affect his chances of winning! Imagine that!

We should be focused on the issues, what the candidates will do, what they said, their vision for the country and the beliefs that they hold. We’re not choosing a hero for the comic books or a movie…we’re choosing a leader who has to be intelligent enough to handle all or most of the conflicts that she (hopefully very soon) or he will face.
